Our union has joined the international labor movement in demanding justice for our trade union brother Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who was deported to El Salvador without due process by the US government.

The Situation

Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a dedicated union member, was sent to El Salvador with no due process rights respected. He is currently being held in a Salvadoran prison despite a US Supreme Court order for his return. This case represents a dangerous erosion of worker rights, immigrant rights, and due process that threatens all working people.

Our Response

UNI Global has called on the international union movement to send letters to El Salvadoran embassies worldwide. We have officially sent our letter of protest to the embassy in Canberra/Melbourne, standing in solidarity with the AFL-CIO, SMART, and TUCA in their fight for Kilmar’s immediate return.
